Accreditation changes

On 20 July, the Commission withdrew the accreditation of the Università Anglo Cattolica San Paolo Apostolo upon that institution ceasing to be under the spiritual protection of the Apostolic Episcopal Church.

On 20 July, the Commission approved that the Epiphany Guild, an institution of the Apostolic Episcopal Church founded in 1924, would operate as a division of the Western Orthodox Academy. Both the Guild and the Academy are accredited by the Commission.

Merger of accredited institutions

On 1 June 2017, the Accrediting Commission of the Anglican Association of Colleges and Schools approved the merger of the J.S. Bach Academy within the Western Orthodox University. Both institutions are accredited by the Commission.

Commission approves separation of institutions

The Commission on Accreditation of the Anglican Association of Colleges and Schools has approved the separation of the Western Orthodox Academy, which will operate as a new United Kingdom-based institution providing academic and administrative support to the Western Orthodox University in the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Western Orthodox Academy will not grant degrees.

The Western Orthodox Academy was the original name given to the Western Orthodox University at its foundation in 1945.

The Commission has granted accreditation to the Western Orthodox Academy. The Western Orthodox University already holds accreditation from the Commission.

Merger of accredited institutions

On 31 December 2016, the Accrediting Commission of the Anglican Association of Colleges and Schools approved the merger of All Saints College, Dublin, within the Western Orthodox University. Both institutions are accredited by the Commission.

The Commission has been satisfied that adequate measures are in place to deal with students and other stakeholders throughout the merger process and that an orderly transition can be expected in the near future.

Institutions gain accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation has completed favourable review of the following institutions and has granted accreditation. Accreditation is for a period of ten years save for that of CDES in Uruguay which is accredited for five years.

Three institutions achieve accredited status

The Commission on Accreditation of the Anglican Association of Colleges and Schools has completed its initial review of three institutions owned or sponsored by the Apostolic Episcopal Church and has made an award of accreditation for a ten year period in each case.

The institutions are: The Western Orthodox University, which is wholly owned and operated by the Apostolic Episcopal Church, and All Saints College, Dublin, and The Epiphany Guild, which are sponsored by the Church.
